Winnie Hsu is a photographer based in lawrence, ks. usa

She was born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, a city by the sea on a mountainous island. She moved to the United States in 2002 and has been living in Kansas since. She left Taiwan for school in Exeter, England at 18 and later moved to the US to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Kansas and Master’s degree in French from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1997. During this time, she spent 2 years both in France and in Quebec (Universite de Francois Rabelais Tours and Universite de Montreal). She travelled/backpacked extensively in Asia, Europe and the Middle East for her passion for languages and cultures.

She currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas with her husband and her son. She explores and studies her surroundings in the prairie, wetlands, woods and rural areas where she sees a different scenery and cultures from what she’s accustomed to growing up in a city/sea environment.
